Introduction
The Seychelles is a group of islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. The largest island is Mahé, which houses about 90% of the population and is home to the capital Victoria. It was under British rule from 1810-1976.
Population
The Seychelles has a population of around 99,000 (2021), descended primarily from French settlers and East Africans, as well as traders from China and India.
Language
Official languages are English, French and Seychellois Creole. Creole is spoken widely. The main language of business is English.
Currency
Seychellois rupee (SCR).

Based on English Common Law and French Civil Law.
