Who We Are

ARAMIS TRUST SA has a rich history, originally established as the Geneva branch of EXPERTA SA, a reputable Swiss fiduciary company created in 1933 by a group of wealthy families.

Following a management buy-out in 2008, we continued our journey as a boutique consultancy firm specializing in trust and fiduciary services, estate planning, tax and corporate advisory services.

In January 2016, ARAMIS TRUST SA joined FIDINAM, a private consulting group founded in Lugano (Switzerland) in 1960, offering tax, business, real estate, and digital consulting services to companies, entrepreneurs, and individuals.

This move allowed us to consolidate our market position with prospects for growth and specialization, particularly in providing tailored Swiss Trustee Services for multi-generational entrepreneurial families.

Trusts in Switzerland

While Switzerland has not yet implemented its own Trust Law, trusts from other jurisdictions and applicable regulations (e.g., Jersey, New Zealand, Hong Kong, as well as modern trust laws such as Bahamas, Cayman, etc.) are recognized in Switzerland through the ratification of the Hague Trust Convention on July 1, 2007.

Regulation and Licensing

Swiss Trustees are subject to a rigorous licensing process by FINMA and must meet numerous personal, financial, and organizational requirements, following the enactment of FinSA and FinIA (in force since January 1, 2020). These acts aim to introduce uniform competitive conditions for financial intermediaries and improve client protection.

Asset Segregation

The Federal Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law was amended in December 2006 to ensure the segregation of trust and trustee assets, offering protection to beneficiaries in case of trustee bankruptcy.

Taxation

The tax provisions applicable to a trust with a Swiss trustee depend on the tax residence of the settlor and beneficiaries. A Swiss resident trustee is not liable to Swiss income tax or capital gains tax on the trust assets. Settlors and beneficiaries are exempt from Swiss taxation as long as they are not Swiss residents under the regular tax regime.
